God's desire to dwell with humankind is depicted in the OT. Ex.33:7-11This is the place where God dwelt with His people. Just like the garden of Eden, God always wanted to dwell among us so that we can have fellowship with Him.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Dwelt - The Greek verb used here literally means "to dwell in a tent," as described in Ex 33:7-11. God came to us in the person of Jesus Christ. This is called the incarnation; we call it Christmas.
The Son of God became man to enable men to become the sons of God.— C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity
Thank you, Jesus, for coming to us. We receive you as Savior, Lord, and Master. Emanual God with us.
